99, 293, 6/336

No’s, but so important!!!
NZ 99, Taylor 30, Asif4/40, Kaniera 3/6. Pak 2/64. 16 wickets fell, again showing how the batting of both sides is weak. Full credit must go to the Pakistan bowlers. But our batting woes continue. Pakistan have a great chance of a big lead today, but NZ must keep taking wickets. Then it will come down to our batting…confidence??
Sehwag 293, he didnt get it!!!! India 9/726 dec. Dhoni 100no Muralitharan 51-4-195-4, Herath 53.3-2-240-3. SL 0/11. So many runs, now it comes down to if the pitch will hold together.
WI 6/336 Bravo 104, Chanderpaul 62. What a great fight back by WI after the first test. Hope Nash and Sammy can keep it going.
Two good scores in NZ, Rhodes 142no, on his debut, and Broom 103no. Broom must be close to the test team.
Well all we want/need now is a great NZ batting display!!!!

Sehwags day

Wow it was Sehwags day…284no, and on target to be the first to score 3 300’s. India are 1/443 (5.60!!), after SL 393. Mathews joining the 99 club. How can you!!!!
NZ won the toss and put Pak. in. 6/161. They started so well after 32ov 0/60, but then they thru away cheap wickets. NZ bowled patient and tight, and when the break thru came were very impressive. Tuffey bowled very well, at both ends. O’Brien, once he settled, looked good again. Vettori gave the ball more air, and looks better when he does. Martin seems to be lacking pace, and fire.
Well done Capt., you had 4 slips and 2 gullies, for O’Brien. But to late for Mr Bond!!!! Thanks for listening!!!!
Its good to see How back in the runs, with a good attacking 90. He’s to good a player not to be tried again??
Offcourse player of day, Sehwag (and again tomorrow??).

Bondless and Dilshan

No Bond..well at least its made the build up exciting. It looks like Tuffey will play, I’m dissappionted again that we dont play 5 bowlers.
SL won the toss and batted, scoring 8/366. Dilshan 109, Mathews 86no. H.Singh 4/107. They scored at 4.11.
Here we go again 3 tests under way soon, plus the Plunket Shield. Oh is this heaven??!!!!

Bond,Steyn and ball size

Shame to lose Bond, from his injury. But its the right move to let him recover. I have commented else where.
Steyn is being rested by SA, Taylor has gone home from Aust. Bond is out. This is something that we have to live with. Fast bowlers get injured, nothing has changed. But do some captains over bowl them, because its a easy option??

McKay, Gayle, Taylor…

I like to make comments on what is on cricketinfo.
Hifenhaus is injured, and will miss the 2nd test. Strange he doesn’t impress me. But they like him. Clint McKay comes in, but Bollinger should play. He looks very promising.
The gayle Capt. stories will NEVER go away. He’s not a good Capt., end of story. A poor Capt. leading a weak team.

Test comments….

Wow!!!! Yes wow!!!! What a test match. Maybe the best of 2009. Its great having Pakistan back playing test cricket, and good to have NZ winning again. There are so many positives to come out of the match. Ok the batting is not strong in both sides, Pakistans fielding is terrible!!! But the bowling was world class.
The venue was awesome, such a lovelly ground, good pitch and well suppoerted. Well done Dunedin!!!!
I’m still not sure of the LBW video. The angle is the key, and can the camera tell the flight, pitch, angle of the ball like the human eye?? Little loan the swing. But lets give it a go. I think most video decisions were the right ones.
But one does have to feel for the umpire if a decision is changed.
So it looks like Umar/Yousuf, Taylor/Guptill, Pak fielding, and two very good bowling attacks will be the key. And who can score the best from the rest!!!!
Vettori and Yousuf?? I think to sum it up, one wants to be Capt. and one doesn’t!!!! To me Vettori is way to negative, as I have said many times. I would love to see him attack more with Bond, yes 4 slips and 2 gullys. Give away runs, yes but you will get wickets.
The final word, has to be on Bond. I will never for give NZ cricket for letting him go. Buy him a house, buy him a car, send him on a world cruise!!!! You should have inticed him to stay. 2 years of a great fast bowler, yes I use that word!!, lost. It was so good to see him back with a 153k ball.

England roll South Africa

SA made 119 off 36.5ov and Eng. 3/121. Good performances by Anderson 10-3-23-5 and Trott 52no. SA top order failing. Is there a weakness in batting, around the world, starting to appear?? Bowlers, except in Asia, seem to be dominating more than ever.

wins and draws, and…..

A win to India.SL made 269, and India win their 100th test. H.Singh 3/98. Well done India, showing wins can be made on so called placid pitches. Conditions are never perfect anywhere, and thats what is so great about test cricket.
NZ are 8/147, and lead by 244. We need over 250, and lets hope the weather holds. And PLEASE both teams go for a win, don’t worry about a loss. But I have a feeling, a draw will be the result. Bond got his 5, 27.5-4-107-5.
Aust made 8/480 Dec. WI are 5/134. 3 days still left. What a shame Taylor broke down after 9 overs. A huge hill for WI to climb.
SA beat Eng by 112 runs in a 1Day. 6/354 de Villiers 121 Eng 242 Collingwood 86 Wayne Parnell 5/48. His 8th game,hes 20 and leftarm fast.
Wellington scored a good win over ND, the other two games draws. But 3 very interesting games.
My player day, Parnell.

Sir James..ooops Sir Shane

Wow its great he’s back.Awesome display of fast bowling.151k bouncer,153k fast ball. Its so exciting!!!But why Capt, not open with 4slips and 2 gulleys??He needs to watch video of Thompson,Hall,Tyson…attack when u have the pace. And the negetive bowling from Vettori. Why have under finger spin at 4/85??Over finger and attack!!!!
NZ 429 Pak 8/307. A great fight back by the Akmal bros. Umar 129, yes he is only 19, and Kamran 82. Bond has 24-4-93-4. I’m just disappionted in Vettoris negative captaincy, but this is his on going problem.
SL 229. Sreesanth 22-4-75-5. A great display on a quite dead wicket. Following on they are 4/57. 356 behind still. India in command with 2 days left.
Aust 5/322. A even days play. The WI fighting back well. I hope they bat well.
The Plunket Shield games are even and we could yet get 3 results. Its a shame they take a break, as would be good to keep going with so many players stepping up.
Ingram 135, his 10th 100. An other forgottan man.
My player day, just Bond ahead of Umar. He is a kiwi!!!! And well done Sreesanth.

Both tests at interesting stage

NZ 8/404 and India 642, with SL 1/66. So after two days, both are into the all important Day3.
NZ carried on with Vettori 99 and McCullum 78 putting on 164parts. I don’t want to dwell on it, but again we have 4 batsman getting good test scores, but why can’t they carry on?? Its just to the normal in NZ cricket.
But well down Vettori, and yet again proving he maybe can cope with all his “jobs”. I will never agree to his “power”, but if he can cope and proves he can do it, lets go with it.
Pakistan are already looking a team here for 3 draws. I was very dissappionted with their attitude yesterday. They seem to lose interest as the day went on. But its still a good contest. I would love to see NZ declare over night, and “have a go at them”. I would be a good positive move.
Dravid144 lifted the India score, but then they folded to Herath 33-2-121-5. The pitch is starting to turn, and today is very important to SL, they must pass the follow on.
Harry got there!!!105, his 13th 100. Wow hes a legend!!! Sam Wells getting 11-3-26-5 for Otago. His 2nd 5 this summer, and hes young and quite quick they say.
Ya!!! the 3rd test starts today. Aust v WI at the Gabba. I hope Sarwan is fit. Sad if hes not!!!!He and Gayle are the key. A new look Aussie team, so it could be interesting.
My man of the day Harry, sorry Vettori!!!!
