The summer of cricket couldn’t have started better.A great days cricket,and it looks like a even test.
pakistan won the toss,and at 2/27 I thought “here we go again”, but we fought back well. At 6/267 its even. Its a shame Guptill 60 and Taylor 94, didn’t go on. This is a problem we have had for years. Batsman just don’t go on.
But the McCullum 25no and Vettori 40no partnership has put us into a chance of 350+, which I feel we will need.
Once again Pakistan have let themselves down in the field. They bowled well, but made to many errors fielding. Asif, 3/76, looks a very promising young bowler.
India won the toss and batted, scoring 2/417. Gambhir 167, Sehwag 131, leading the way. And with Dravid 85no, Tendulkar 20no, what will they score??
Two totally differant tests, but its awesome. Conditions, pitches, players are what makes tests. I have Never been bored by a test match. Go watch Womans Beach Volleyball if you don’t like it!!!!
But the man of the day has to be Southee 25-12-27-8. At last we have a good pool of pace bowlers giving the selectors talent to earn their money, and get selections right.
One must also not forget all the runs scored yesterday in the Plunket Shield. 100’s to Papps 107, Myburgh 120, Haig 150no, Broom 159no. And I must not get every ones fav cricketer Chris Harris. Yes he’s BACK!!!! 40 yrs old and 83no. Go Chris, get that 100!!!!
So thats it after Day 1… with all the cricket so interesting, we all hope it will be a GOLDEN summer.

My 11 of promising players to watch this summer.Its not a second 11.Ive tried to keep to younger players.Wilson,Worker,Todd,Kitchen,Williamson,Van Wyk,de Border,Arnel,Nethula,Boult,L Shaw.
I wont put the Plunket Shield scores,it will get rather boring seeing Mighty Auckland thrash every one!!!!But I will comment,just to keep rubbing it in!!!!My player or 2010 to go places=Nethula.

Its very sad to hear of the death of David Shepherd with cancer.He was 68.He stood in 172 ODI and 92 Tests between 1983-2005.I always found him a very good umpire,who seem to get on very well with the players.
India won the 2nd ODI game v Aust.India made 7/354,Dhoni 124 Gambhir 76,and Aust. 255 Hussey 53.Why did Aust. put them into bat??As I said previous,these games are mainly going to be won by the team batting first.Tendulkar made 4,and his form must be a worry.

Shame that Brett Lee is out.But its good to see Moises Henriques come in.He played well for NSW.Wow they are similar to us,now about 6 players missing.
The IPL will clash with the two Tests v Australia,in March.Could this be the first big test for NZ cricket??If players want to go,let them go.There are plenty of players who would put the Silver Fern first.
Zimbabwe beat Bagladesh in a very interesting 1day seris.5/189 to 186.In what could be a even seris.Chigumbura continous to show he is a very good allrounder,scoring 60no and taking 3/27.

Its so sad to hear of the passing of Wasim Akrams wife Huma.Only 42.She has died of Multiple Organ Failure.
I hope the teams dedicate the coming seris to Wasim.A truly great player.
