Wow!!!! Yes wow!!!! What a test match. Maybe the best of 2009. Its great having Pakistan back playing test cricket, and good to have NZ winning again. There are so many positives to come out of the match. Ok the batting is not strong in both sides, Pakistans fielding is terrible!!! But the bowling was world class.
The venue was awesome, such a lovelly ground, good pitch and well suppoerted. Well done Dunedin!!!!
I’m still not sure of the LBW video. The angle is the key, and can the camera tell the flight, pitch, angle of the ball like the human eye?? Little loan the swing. But lets give it a go. I think most video decisions were the right ones.
But one does have to feel for the umpire if a decision is changed.
So it looks like Umar/Yousuf, Taylor/Guptill, Pak fielding, and two very good bowling attacks will be the key. And who can score the best from the rest!!!!
Vettori and Yousuf?? I think to sum it up, one wants to be Capt. and one doesn’t!!!! To me Vettori is way to negative, as I have said many times. I would love to see him attack more with Bond, yes 4 slips and 2 gullys. Give away runs, yes but you will get wickets.
The final word, has to be on Bond. I will never for give NZ cricket for letting him go. Buy him a house, buy him a car, send him on a world cruise!!!! You should have inticed him to stay. 2 years of a great fast bowler, yes I use that word!!, lost. It was so good to see him back with a 153k ball.

I have just come on the net and Shane Bond is out of the rest of the series. I am so gutted!! It’s so unfair!!!
The best fast bowler since Hadlee has been injury prone all his career. Remember we lost him to the police well before he made his impact. Then the icl when we couldn’t pay him enough. Now he’s back, takes 8 wickets, inspires the others (espically Obrien on last afternoon) only to tear another muscle or two.
That test showed what we can do. Now with Bond out, O’Brien becomes the no 1 fast bowler (145k) and the question is… can he do it well enough? Tuffey will play and Elliot has to bowl or be dropped.
If the Basin takes spin like it did for the Shield games, should we play a 5 man attack with Patel included. McCullum at 6, Vettori at 7. Picking extra batsman doesn’t work if they all fail which (minus taylor) happened in the 2nd innings. So for me either Elliot as allrounder or Patel as 2nd spinner.
I fear now we’ll lose. I think Pakistan could get better with the test under their belt. If so, we have to get better without our no 1 strike option and a batting lineup prone to collapse. It’s going to a very interesting test. I can’t wait for it but I am so gutted will not be able to
see Shane Bond steaming into the wicket and giving those batsmen a fright and a workout. I may never see it again in test matches.
Oh well, life was never supposed to be easy.
Yes I was so gutted. And all these wankers saying he’s past it, who cares etc. Its just so unfair on him and us. Two things though, why did we only have 4 bowlers and he could have bowled shorter spells, and should Tuffet have played instead off Elliot. I know its easy after the game, but we did say these before the test.
I would add Southee to the squad, and then decide who to play.
Yes we need 5 bowlers, do we use 3 or 4 quicks or Patel??
Still its made it into a more interesting test. Yes its going to be hard for us, but I still have faith in our bowlers. Both teams look even, batting and bowling but our fielding is better. It will come down to which of the lesser batsman can score runs.
