Bond,Vincent,Hamish,Pakistan

Bond has been taken by Kolkata Knight Riders, for $1-05m NZ. Great news, for some one who really deserves it. But I’m stunned Vincent missed. But maybe a blessing for NZ cricket, as hopefully he will be available for all coming NZ games.

Hamish Marshall returns. Here we go again, another unavailable NZ player. He joins Bond, Oram, Styrs in not playing test cricket. So 4 positions are now being taken by players unavailable. We CAN not afford this to be happening. Its going to stunt the growth of 4 young players.

Finally its so sad no Pakistan players are in the IPL. Politics ugle head comes out again.

  1. My test team for bangladesh, aussie

    Ingram
    McIntosh
    Taylor
    Ryder
    Vincent (or Styris)
    Vettori
    Franklin
    McCullum
    Southee
    Tuffey
    Martin

  2. Styris wont play tests. Yes depends on Franklin bowling 20 overs if needed. If not Anderson, if he can bowl (hes not bowling at the moment), still Elliot, if he can bowl!!!!
Guptill has to be in. Its just where. Ryder, no wouldn’t in tests.

  3. I’ve heard the one day teams for Bangledesh.

Good to see Ingram selected. He has consistently scoed runs in all forms for three seasons and deserves a chance. I wouldn’t select him in the test team becuase I believe in giving opening combos a chance. I wasn’t a great supporter of Watling/McIntosh for the 3rd Pak test but it worked so it must remain for the 3 tests to come.

McKay was a bit of a shock. I tipped there would be a new bowler but I thought mabe Arnel would get another go or McSkimming or maybe Scott (who bowled very well at the Basin yesterday). It’s good another Wellington guy has been selected although he still looks a ways off been ready. He bowls too many loose 4 balls and wides for me. His one day stats haven’t been great either but he may a bit quicker then the others so maybe that was the reason. Each season always throws up an odd selection and this is the one.

I just had a throught. If McKay is going to be with New Zealand then doesn’t that deplete the Wellington attack even more. Bah!

What else? I (like the rest of those south of Bombay) didn’t think Vincent would get in. Stryis was maybe a little unlucky as he’s had a strong hrv cup but again becuase he’s unavailable for the test team I don’t think he deserves any sympathy from anyone. The 20-20 is a bit allrounder heavy for me. With Franklin, Oram, McCullum (N) and Butler all selected it seems we’ve short of actual specialists.

  4. Yes Ingram deserves his chance….
I always thought McKay, from Auckland, would be a NZ bowler.
How can you leave out Vincent?? South of border fav!!!!
    Tough on Styrus, crazy Oram….
